Noam was the best player on the team, and perhaps that was exactly why he feared the moment so much.
When he said, “I'm gay,” the locker room fell silent. He could hear the showers running and his own heart pounding.
Then a teammate broke the silence with a question that made everything suddenly ordinary: “You're playing Saturday, right?”
After the next game, Noam walked toward the boy he loved in front of everyone. For the first time, he did not look away.
Metamorphosis begins when being yourself no longer feels like something to fear.
