Ariel was twenty-eight when his partner died.
At the funeral he sat at the back, and when somebody asked who he was, he answered: “A friend.”
Then he saw the man's mother sitting alone.
Ariel crossed the room and sat beside her. This time he said the truth: “I was his partner.”
She looked at him and took his hand.
Only then did Ariel allow himself to cry. He had lost the man he loved, but he would no longer erase that love in order to make other people comfortable.
Metamorphosis begins when you refuse to hide who you love.
