Alon was seventeen when he learned to make a photograph of the boy he loved disappear from view in seconds.
One day his mother entered the kitchen while he was printing that photograph.
“Is that him?”
Alon nodded.
She placed the photograph on the fridge with a magnet and went back to making coffee.
A gesture that lasted only a second changed the meaning of hiding. That evening Alon called the boy in the picture and invited him over.
For the first time, the person he loved did not need to disappear.
Metamorphosis begins when love no longer needs a hiding place.
